As you may have noticed, Nekomimi has quite died. I hope to resurrect it, but let me give you a summarial overview:

The staff channel is still populated at times, and the hosting will not disappear either. Finding some of the old gang should not be too difficult, but I can’t say whether they can rustle up motivation to resume subbing. Everyone seems to have departed the stage at roughly the same time, but once I’ve returned from Africa I will intensify my efforts to assemble them.

My primary motivation for this is, as you may have guessed, subbing Sora no Otoshimono in Fall.

The main problem is that finding loliki – the big man here, and main translator – has proven extremely challenging, and even if we manage to locate him there’s no telling whether he wants to sub it. If he doesn’t, I will find other people, but I will not release under the Nekomimi label without him involved, as it’s his group to begin with. A possible team would be cryptw for encoding and Alcyone, Kusion and me for the rest. I’m certain SoraOto will get subbed, but I can’t promise under which label.

Now the other SoraOto – Sora no Oto. Apparently there’s a script for the bonus episode kicking around, done by whom I can’t really say, but it’s in further need of attention. Perhaps I will take care of that in the weeks to come, but you will understand that my motivation is limited as I can only assume that after such a horrendous delay your interest in our particular sub has all but vanished. Maybe I should let corpses rot away naturally without performing fansub voodoo.

If everyone shows up giddily motivated halfway into September, who’s to say, maybe SoraOto will get finished after all.

The deciding factor whether all this will happen with or without the Nekomimi denominator is whether loliki arises from the electronic ashes in a burst of phoenicial fire, but finding a crew I can press-gang into subbing it should not be all that difficult. And if it comes to the worst, hell, I’ll just one-man sub it! So, tentatively, this is, like, an announcement it’ll get subbed.

Hi everyone, I’d like to update you on the status of the Sora no Woto batch, as well as a few other things.

As you all know, Sora no Woto’s been completed, but there is no batch torrent yet. This is because I’m currently reviewing ALL the episode scripts and updating them, me being the anal editor that I am. You can expect most if not all episodes to have a v2 version, some changed more than others. Once this tedious process is finished I’ll compile and release an official batch for Sora no Woto.

Also, I’d also like to announce that  fnord, who did kara, editing, and translation (and more), has retired from Nekomimi Fansubs for personal reasons. There wasn’t any drama within the group or anything, he is just at a point where he will be unable to perform his fansub duties in the foreseeable future. I’m sure I’m not alone in saying I wish he could stay, but as much as we may joke about it, real life always takes precedence over anime. Everyone in Nekomimi wishes him the best of luck, and hopefully there will be a time when he can rejoin us and make fansubs with us once again.

K-ON!

Hello readers. After much deliberation, we’ve decided we’ll be subbing K-On! due to a raw provider popping up who can provide us with DVD quality raws straight from the studio before they air. Probably in a day or so we’ll have the first episode done. Please bear in mind that these are pre-release raws, so a few things may change before the episode officially airs. Yes, we do plan to finish the series.

Another issue that needs attending to is that of vacancies. Persons wishing to join, please submit to us a 100 word document outlining your skills and what you expect to bring to the team. Regretfully, not all submissions can be answered immediately, but keep at it anyway. In case it wasn’t already obvious, these are paid positions. Let’s see a lot of entries!

Finally, there’s the issue of backlogs. Over the course of time, we’ve worked up a small collection of episodes that were almost never going to see the light of day. Of course with the new manpower we’ll be attaining these will be released promptly. Likewise, our new releases will benefit from the additional worker ants scurrying away on them. So that’s it, thanks for getting to this point, make sure you read the bold letters carefully.

Here’s the batch for Ookami. It features corrected episodes of 5-7 after we reconsidered the vocabulary and some fixed typos.

There won’t be patches, since it’s a bit of an effort to make them. I do, however, see the point of the poor sods stuck with capped internet, so I put the scripts on the server to download. They’re here: 5, 6, 7.

You can mux the scripts into the old releases using mkvmerge GUI. It’s really easy to use and there’s heaps of guides on it.
